Easter 2010

2010 Easter Season

The Cross Centered Life
Join the New Hope Church family in preparing for the coming Easter season by reading C.J. Mahaney's "The Cross Centered Life." The Monergism website describes the book this way: "If you chase two rabbits, they both escape. Proverbially, that's to say we can successfully pursue only one main thing in life. So for the Christian, what is the single, main thing we should focus our lives around?" ... "To my knowledge, no book better communicates the centrality of the Cross in the Christian life better than 'Living the Cross Centered Life." Reading schedule: March 7 - Chapters 1 & 2; March 14 - Chapters 3 & 4; March 21 - Chapters 5 & 6; and March 28 - Chapter 7.

Good Friday: "The Slaughter of the Lamb"
A brutal killing. An overwhelming defeat. These are definitions we assign to the word "slaughter." And that's exactly what happened on the Cross. The killing of the Lamb of God WAS brutal but he was not defeated! Through music, artistic expression, Scriptural reflections and communion, we will remind ourselves that the slaughter of Jesus on the cross was the means God used to overwhelmingly defeat our foes.

Friday, April 2

Easter Sunday: "The Triumph of the Lamb"
At first blush, it is an odd metaphor that God gave when he called his son the Lamb of God. A lamb has no way to defend itself and no way to inflict pain on or be victorious over an opponent. Yet, by the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, the Lamb of God triumphed forever over sin and death and hell. Join the New Hope Church family as we celebrate the Triumphant, Risen Lamb with great joy!
