Vision Statement

Our desire is to assist God’s people in the biblical stewardship of their finances. We want to do this as we follow Jesus who has redeemed us, brings us into relationship with one another and provides us with resources to worship God through what we do.

Explanation of Vision Statement

God has given each of us gifts we are privileged to freely offer in return as acts of worship to him. Abel knew how to do a God-honoring act of worship and “the Lord had regard for Abel and for his offering, but for Cain and for his offering he had no regard” (Genesis 4:4, 5). Yet God wasn’t finished with Cain. His words of grace were the gentle words of instruction that sin is “crouching at the door.”His desire was that Cain must “master it.”

Consider the words of Scripture. We learn that it is by faith that Abel’s act of worship was more honoring to God than Cain’s (Hebrew 11:4). And yet Scripture teaches us that if our acts of worship are not pleasing to God he gives us the grace to do make changes that are pleasing to him. This may mean dealing with our pride and humbling ourselves under God’s mighty hands (1 Peter 5:7).

Financial Health Ministry exists to come alongside others in deepening the appreciation for individual vocation and the stewardship of finances as means of worship and participation in kingdom values. Our vision, simply put, is that believers follow Jesus and invite all that we are and do to be mediated through him. There are three aspects of discipleship that we want to emphasize:

Redemption
The first is redemption. The Cross of Jesus Christ has given us access to the throne of God and all of us find our identity at the foot of the Cross.

Relationships
The second is relationships. As the body of Jesus Christ, we have been brought into relationship with one another and have the privilege to participate relationally in being for the world (reaching out to a hurting world through God’s love).

Resources
The third is resources. The work of Jesus Christ is to view our vocations as ministr.y The fruit of those labors are the privileged tangible acts of worship to God that are pleasing to him. This all leads to fruitful living, serving and being served.

"Sally and I have a yellow lab and when she was a puppy I did not train her how to obey and so now when she is on the leash I wonder if the dog is taking me for a walk instead. But I am working on it and making progress on how to “master it.” Our finances are like our yellow lab. Our finances are not to master us, we are to master them."
