Short-Term Trips Tips

What you need to know

Medical
When you begin making plans to take part in a short-term trip, visit your family physician for a medical check up. Inform the clinic of your destination and expected duties. The doctor will prescribe the proper immunizations. Your tetanus MUST be up to date. Immunizations can be obtained at the following locations:

• Your doctor's office.
• Park Nicollet Travel Clinic, 952-993-3131.
• Abbott Northwestern Travel Clinic, 612-863-5336.

Important: Check with your medical insurance company to see which clinic they cover in the state of Minnesota. Not all clinics are covered.

Passport
Passports can be purchased at a Hennepin County Service Center. (There locations in Maple Grove, Ridgedale, Brookdale and Southdale.) The cost is $97. You must provide proof of citizenship with an original birth certificate and have a social security number, official passport photos and a completed application. The Service Center can print passport photos or you can obtain them at another location such as Walgreens or AAA. Learn more>>

Support Raising
Contact Global Ministries for additional information on support raising. Follow these guidelines as you raise your financial support.

  1. A personal deposit determined by the team leader is required of all team members.

  2. Team members will receive training on creating a support letter.

  3. Support mailing should include letter, registration form and envelope with address label attached for return donation.

  4. Donors are given the option of designating their contributions to the team or individual team members. Gifts given to the entire team will be equally shared by all team members. All donors will receive a receipt for donations at the end of the year.

  5. Global Ministries will inform the team leader and team members how much money has been received in each team member's account.
  6. Any unused or unneeded funds after the trip has been completed will be managed by Global Ministries. Funding overages cannot be returned to donors.

  7. Team members are responsible for any balance remaining on their trip cost after their fund raising efforts and personal deposit. That balance is due before the trip starts.
