What We Believe About Homosexuality
God made us male and female and has a beautiful plan for men and women.
God created men and women to have equal, yet absolutely distinct and complimentary
identities and roles, as described in the Bible. Any deviation from those
roles and identities undermines and distorts the intended fellowship we have
with God and one another. Sexual expression is reserved for the union between
husband and wife. There are many factors that can set a person up toward same sex attractions.
These involuntary attractions are not sin, but choosing to act upon them
is. Homosexual practices are contrary to God's plan for human sexuality. Change is possible. In fact, if we are submitting to God's will, we are
all being transformed into His image each day. God's power in Christ and
through the Holy Spirit is available to transform all people, including those
who struggle with homosexual attractions. God commands the community of believers to minister to the lost, broken,
hurting and wounded. Our aim is to provide a safe, confidential place to
be restored to sexual and relational wholeness through Jesus Christ. "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." –Luke 4:18 For your reference and convenience, the NHC website contains many links to external websites and files whose content may or may not necessarily reflect the beliefs or opinions of New Hope Church. the love of Christ to those impacted by homosexuality. God's Word is clear
in the following teaching:
