A Servant Heart
I recently was in conversation with a woman that expressed her desire to be able to volunteer more, but that she just didn't have time. Through the course of our conversation, however, I learned that she had come with her neighbor's kid and that the child tended to come with her wherever she went. She also shared how she's been helping another neighbor for several weeks as he has been going through cancer treatments. She's been bringing meals and fresh bread over a few times a week. Two things stuck me in this conversation - one, she might not be volunteering in a structured format, but she is definitely out serving others with the love of Jesus! It doesn't need to be complicated. She saw a need and she met it. Two, she expressed repeatedly how happy she was that she was able to do these things, that serving others meant so much to her. She's living proof of Proverbs 11:25 (NIV), "A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." The Gospel brought to life through the actions of believers. Beautiful.

Thank you so much for sharing the love of Christ with such enthusiasm. We received nearly 200 coats in our recent coat collection! Many people will experience a better winter due to your generosity. As an added measure of giving, would you take a moment to pray for the recipients of those coats?
