Is Your Marriage Struggling?
The Marriage Mentoring Ministry at NHC exists to strengthen new marriages
and those that are struggling. Marriage Mentoring is a simple concept. It
is "couple mentoring," which means it matches couples
who have strong godly marriages with those just starting married life or
those who find themselves in need of help. Marriage Mentors are matched with
you based on the information you provide in your confidential application.
You complete a relationship assessment questionnaire and your Marriage Mentoring
couple meets with you to provide feedback concerning the results. They help
you learn what it takes to have a godly marriage.
Feedback topics include:
- Learning to speak assertively and actively listen
to your partner.
- Discovering 10 steps for resolving couple conflict.
- Uncovering couple strengths and growth areas.
- Crealting a couple and family map. Learning the impact of your family of
origin on your marriage.
- Learning to develop a spending plan with which
you can live.
- Finding ways to make your goals a reality.
Couples meet with mentors a minimum of six times over the course of a year.
Each meeting lasts approximately one and a half hours. Couples can recovenant
with their mentors at the end of the year for additional meetings if it is
mutually agreeable. In addition to their training in the assessment tools,
Marriage Mentors are also trained to determine which resources couples can
be referred to for additional help.
If you are interested in being matched with a Marriage Mentoring couple, fill
out the application (pdf below) and mail it to the address listed on the form.
You will be matched with a mentoring couple approximately two to three weeks
later!
