Family: My wife Amy and I were married in 2002.
We met at a camp ministry in Rockford, Illinois in. Our dog, a brittany
named Remington, came on board in 2004.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Youth Ministry from
Moody Bible Institute; and M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Equipped for Service: The Lord has equipped me with a passion for Him that is above all else
in my life as well as a passion to teach His Word. He has also given me
a very strong and specific passion and lifetime calling for making disciples
of students. I absolutely love hanging out with students and sharing the
love of Christ with them.
Prepared for Service: My time at Moody equipped me
on a very practical level for making disciples in student ministry. During
seminary at Trinity I was given the resources that I needed to communicate
His Word to students and to provide a theological framework for ministry.
I've loved the experiences and opportunities that I have had that the Lord
has used to prepare me for ministry.
Appreciation for NHC:
I've appreciated having the opportunity to learn and grow from the
ministry staff here. It continues to be an incredible experience. I'ts
so powerful to see New Hope Church continue to boldly follow the Lord's
calling for us as a Christ Centered Community for All People.
Free Time: Hanging out with Amy is definitely my favorite way to spend my free time.
We love to travel and experience new things together. I enjoy camping,
hiking/backpacking, fishing and really enjoy books and coffee. Amy and
I have spent hours in Borders or Barnes drinking coffee and reading. You
may also run into us at the dog park from time to time.
Scripture:
Romans 12:1 impacts me daily. "I appeal to you therefore, brothers,
by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy
and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship" (ESV). The
grace of God enables me to now live for Him and worship Him in each moment.
This is such a powerful daily reminder.
Recommended Resources:
I'd recommend anything by C.S. Lewis, and while his nonfiction is
great, please don't pass on his fiction. "The Great Divorce," in particular,
has increased my understanding of redemption in very powerful ways. Other
favorites of mine include "Abba's Child," by Brennan Manning; "Desiring
God," by John Piper; "Wild at Heart," by John Eldridge; "Systematic Theology,"
by Wayne Grudem; and "Shaping the Spiritual Life of Students," by Richard
Dunn.
